Last year, when we were stuck in our houses due to COVID, one of my friends suffered from anxiety and stress. I talk to him every day, he always stressed about things. Feeling anxiety comes anytime, you don’t need a big or serious reason for that.

Anxiety is a natural stress response. When you have anxiety, start feeling fear of loss or outcome.

When you have anxiety or stress start feeling increased heart rate, rapid breathing, restlessness, trouble concentrating, difficulty falling asleep. If you don’t have that doesn’t mean you don’t have anxiety. Every person is different, so their symptoms are also different.

Here are activity or things which I search for my friend and it help him so much, so I think might share it with you also:

1. Listen to Music

Listening to music can have a very relaxing effect on the body.

When you listen to slow instrumental, it will help lower the blood pressure and heart rate and also reduce stress hormones.

You can also listen to some classical, Indian classical songs especially soothing songs that help in the stress-releasing process.

Nature sounds can also be very calming. This is why they’re often used for relaxation and meditation.

Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. — Kahlil Gibran

2. Meditate

When you are stress or feeling anxiety it also affects your behaviour. After certain points, you become an angry and frustrated person that is not a good sign for your health.

Meditation that not only reduces stress also improve focus and help you decrease brain clutter.

When we pay attention to our breathing, this practice of returning to the breath builds the muscles of attention and mindfulness.

“Meditation is not about stopping thoughts, but recognizing that we are more than our thoughts and our feelings.” — Arianna Huffington

To focus on one thing for so long, increase our concentration power and release stress. During meditation, we only focus on breathing, it trains our brain attention and awareness, and achieve emotionally and mentally stability and calmness.

3. Drink enough water

As we know our body is about 60–70% water.

Our body constantly loses water through urine and sweat, so we need to provide a sufficient amount of water. Due to today’s busy lifestyle, we didn’t get time to drink enough water that causes Inactivity, diet changes, illness, and even STRESS.

According to expert, we need to take around 08 glass of water each day which equals about 2 litres. Some experts believe that you need to sip on water constantly throughout the day, even when you’re not thirsty.

Water also causes stress, should drink enough water.

4. Read your favourite book or story

This is my personal favourite activity, it helps me a lot to release anxiety. Reading.

Whenever I feel stress or anxious, just grab my favourite book, sit on the window, or sometimes go out in the park or cafe. And peacefully reading it.

Books help me to avoid distraction around and take me to the other world, it seems like my story has changed and I’m part of the new story now. Playing a different character than I usually play. It inspired me, a new angle to the same thing.

5. Write down your thoughts

Another way to handle stress is to write down your thoughts. Pour your thoughts into somethings else that never ask you anything or judge is the best way.

When you think you are stress, take your journal or diary and put your all thoughts, problems, reasons and solution, everything that comes to your mind.

But, at last, always write about Gratitude that helps relieve stress and anxiety by focusing your thoughts on what’s positive in your life.

Just like, the story may have a bad starting but always end it with a good or positive note.

“Writing in a journal reminds you of your goals and your learning in life. It offers a place where you can hold a deliberate, thoughtful conversation with yourself.” — Robin Sharma

6. Spend time with your family or close ones

Social support from friends and family can help you get through stressful times.

Keep in mind that having family and friend around you at your low time will definitely help you release stress.

The study found that men and women with fewer social connections were more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety.

At some point, we suffer stress and anxiety problem, and that is common no shame on that. But the thing is how we deal with it. There still have fewer people who take the help of the doctor. Anxiety is so dangerous for our health, do not ignore it. As soon as start working on it, as easy for you to rid of it. Do some small activity you like reading, meditation, keep a journal and control your stress.

Take care of your health.
